Description

This Cajun Honey Butter Salmon recipe is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, blending the bold flavors of Cajun seasoning with the richness of butter and sweetness of honey. The dish is quick to prepare and packed with flavor, making it an ideal option for weeknight dinners or entertaining guests. With tender, flaky salmon at the heart of the meal, this recipe brings a satisfying combination of savory heat and sweet indulgence to the table in just under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • Season the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry and season both sides generously with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Place the seasoned fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Prepare the Honey Butter Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in 2 tablespoons of honey and cook for another minute, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Coat the Salmon: Pour the honey butter sauce evenly over the seasoned salmon fillets, making sure each piece is well coated.
  • Bake the Salmon: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Garnish and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Cooking Time: The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the thickness of your salmon fillets. Thicker fillets might need a minute or two longer, while thinner fillets could cook a bit faster.
  • Adjusting Spice Level: If you prefer a milder version, reduce the amount of Cajun seasoning or substitute it with a mix of paprika and garlic powder. For extra heat, add a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Honey Substitutes: Feel free to experiment with other sweeteners like maple syrup or brown sugar for a different flavor profile.
  • Salmon Doneness: Be careful not to overcook the salmon. It’s done when it flakes easily with a fork but still retains its moisture.
  • Leftovers: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in the oven to avoid drying out the salmon.
