Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces macaroni noodles
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- ¼ cup onion, diced
- 1 pound ground sirloin
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon Montreal Steak seasoning
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- 2 Tablespoons mustard
- 28 ounces diced tomatoes
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- While the noodles are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Sauté the diced onion until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground sirloin to the skillet along with Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, Montreal Steak seasoning, and minced garlic. Cook, breaking apart the meat, until the beef is browned and no longer pink.
- Stir in the ketchup, mustard, diced tomatoes, and 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well until fully combined.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and stir to coat the pasta with the sauce.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top of the dish. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Let the cheese melt for 3-5 minutes.
- Once the cheese is melted, uncover and serve warm.
Notes
- Pasta Choice: While macaroni works great in this dish, feel free to swap it with other pasta shapes like penne, rotini, or small shells for a slightly different texture.
- Cheese Options: Cheddar cheese is the classic choice here, but you can experiment with other types of cheese like gouda, mozzarella, or a blend for different flavor profiles.
- Customization: Add extra vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach for more nutrition, or kick up the heat with jalapeños or red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
- Make Ahead: You can prep the beef mixture ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat and combine with freshly cooked pasta and cheese when ready to serve.
