Oreo Balls

  • Author: Christine

Description

Oreo Balls, also known as Oreo truffles, are a simple and delicious no-bake dessert made from just three ingredients: Oreo cookies, cream cheese, and chocolate. These bite-sized treats have a rich, creamy texture with the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. They’re easy to customize with different Oreo flavors, coatings, and decorations, making them ideal for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 36 regular Oreo cookies
  • 1 (8-ounce) package brick-style cream cheese, softened (226 grams)
  • 16 ounces chocolate (semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate) (452 grams)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Oreo Crumbs:
    • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
    • Add the Oreos to a blender or food processor and process until fine crumbs form. Reserve 1 to 2 tablespoons of crumbs for topping if desired.
    • If you don’t have a food processor, place the Oreos in a resealable plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until fine crumbs are formed.
  • Mix the Oreo Crumbs and Cream Cheese:
    • Scoop the Oreo crumbs into a large mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese.
    • Using a handheld mixer, blend the crumbs and cream cheese until fully combined, creating a smooth and consistent mixture. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  • Roll and Shape the Balls:
    • Measure out one-tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture and roll them into balls. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Once all the balls are shaped, place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 20 minutes to firm them up.
  • Melt the Chocolate:
    • Chop the chocolate and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20 to 30 second increments, stirring well after each increment, until fully melted and smooth.
    • Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler for more controlled heating.
  • Dip and Coat the Balls:
    • Dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted chocolate using a fork to roll it around until fully coated. Let the excess chocolate drip off before placing the ball back on the baking sheet.
    • While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the reserved Oreo crumbs or add decorations like sprinkles or a drizzle of contrasting chocolate.
  • Final Refrigeration and Serving:
    • Place the coated Oreo Balls back in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.
    • Store the Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to two months. Serve them chilled or at room temperature and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use brick-style cream cheese to ensure a firm texture. Feel free to experiment with different Oreo flavors and chocolate coatings to create unique variations of this classic recipe. If you’re making these for a special occasion, consider using themed decorations to add a festive touch.
