Description
These Turkey Bacon Jalapeño Popper Cheese Balls are a perfect bite-sized appetizer, combining the smokiness of turkey bacon, the spice of jalapeños, and the creaminess of cheese. They’re quick to prepare, making them an ideal snack for parties or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2 fresh jalapeños, seeded and finely diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers for coating)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the filling:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled turkey bacon, diced jalapeños, minced garlic, chopped green onions, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Stir until all the ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture is smooth.
2️⃣ Form the cheese balls:
Using your hands or a small scoop, form the mixture into small bite-sized balls (about 1 inch in diameter). You should get about 12-16 cheese balls depending on the size.
3️⃣ Coat the cheese balls:
Place the panko breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers) in a shallow dish. Roll each cheese ball in the crumbs, ensuring they’re fully coated for a crispy texture.
4️⃣ Chill the cheese balls:
Transfer the cheese balls to a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.
5️⃣ Serve and enjoy:
Once chilled, arrange the cheese balls on a serving platter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired. Serve with crackers, veggie sticks, or tortilla chips.
Notes
- Spice level: Adjust the heat by adding more jalapeños or including some seeds. For a milder version, use pickled jalapeños.
- Make ahead: These cheese balls can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- Bacon options: You can use regular bacon or a vegetarian bacon alternative if you prefer.
